About Laura

Laura Melrose Ramey, LMFT

Laura is passionate about connecting with people in their stories and the ever-changing seasons of their lives - single, married, parent, career, etc - and the balance of having many roles and hats we wear in relationships while also staying connected to our own hearts and needs.

Laura primarily focuses on healing trauma through mind-body connection using trauma-informed experiential modalities in an intensive format called “Journeys.” These journeys are scheduled as one or multiple full days to allow the client to unplug from their daily distractions, take a deeper dive into the root cause of their symptoms, and focus on their therapeutic goals.

Her foundational model is Internal Family Systems (IFS) or “parts work” which helps identify parts of ourselves that carry thoughts and beliefs that may be stuck in the body and may also be released as physical symptoms. Even if no physical symptoms are present, this “parts” language and awareness can help clients unblend from negative beliefs, trauma, grief, perfectionism, people pleasing behaviors, and unwanted habits that may be buried in the subconscious brain and blocking them from centered living.  The goal is to connect to core SELF and unburden the places we may be in stuck in our relationships or during times of crisis or transition.

Laura has committed to her own personal healing journey and believes that is key to being there for you in your journey as well. She has 3 adopted sons from Haiti - 25 and twin 21 year olds - and a 4 year old biological daughter. So she is also very aware of parenting and attachment in all kinds of transitions and stages. She believes in fostering a healthy compassionate relationship with yourSELF in order to connect in all your relationships (spouses, children, other family members, friends, co-workers, etc) with that same compassion.

When not in the therapy room with you, Laura most enjoys time with her family, dancing, music, flower arranging, reading, decorating, creating soups, poetry, hiking, the sound of flowing water, sitting by a fire, good coffee, and great wine.
